P2 - Mrs Armstrong
September and October in P2!
We had a great start to P2, with time set aside for us to reconnect with our friends and to adapt to the new routines that have been put in place to keep us safe this year.
We read lots of books that led into discussions about our feelings, such as 'Don't Worry Little Crab' by Chris Haughton and 'The Lion Inside' by Rachel Bright. Once we had all settled back into the routines of P2 we enjoyed moving into our topic of 'Bones and Bodies' and we have really enjoyed the shared book 'Funnybones' by Janet and Allen Ahlberg.
In Literacy, we have been writing simple sentences using our phonic knowledge and we are working hard on developing independent writing. We have experimented writing in speech bubbles and in writing questions.
In Maths, we have been working hard on our accuracy in counting amounts from 10-15 and in our numeral recognition beyond 10. We worked hard on our recognition of coins and we have been counting small amounts of money. We know our 2D shapes and can discuss their properties.
During play, we have furthered our learning by making skeletons, completing body jigsaws, building simple words, completing 2D shape activities and games, playing in the baby clinic and in the shop, taking on building challenges and creating fabulous pieces of art.
Our learning continued outside, and we had great fun observing the frogs in the garden!
It has been a busy start to P2 with lots of exciting learning taking place! Please enjoy looking at the photos from September and October.
