P2 - Mrs Armstrong
P2 have enjoyed going ‘Into the Woods’ for our new topic. We have been reading stories, poems and fact books about woodlands and woodland creatures. We have also been learning lots of new words such as nocturnal/diurnal, deciduous/evergreen, herbivore/carnivore/omnivore. Our school garden has acted as our very own woodland and the children have thoroughly enjoyed a variety of outdoor activities.
We celebrated Friendship Week in November with lots of fun activities, discussions and songs about friendship. We even got to wear odd socks to school for a day!
In Literacy, we are continuing to write sentences using our phonic knowledge and have been working hard at using time connectives in our independent writing. We have also been writing our own poems about the deep, dark woods.
In Maths, we have been thinking about teen numbers and accurately counting amounts from 16-20. We have been working hard on subtraction and addition using the ‘counting on’ strategy. We have developed our financial capability and can now make various amounts using a selection of coins.
More recently, we have begun to get into the festive spirit. We have been completing lots of Christmas craft activities and our role play areas have been transformed into Santa’s Workshop. As you can imagine, we have lots of excited little elves during Structured Play sessions!
We hope you enjoy looking at the photos
